
Ellipsis Stephens is a comic writer known for Goblins. She lives near Vancouver with her wife, Danielle Stephens.
Career[]
Ellipsis started her comic Goblins: Life Through Their Eyes in 2005 on Keenspot. At the time she also worked as a dealer at a casino. She has always stated that the main plot of Goblins was written down before starting the comic and that there is going to be an eventual end.
Goblins won two Aurora Awards for 'Best Graphic Novel in English' in 2011, and 'Best Graphic Novel' in 2012. It was also nominated once more for 'Best Graphic Novel in English' in 2013. Goblins won second place during the 2012 ComicMix tournament. Also in 2012 a Dragon Slayer Award presented by Guild Launch for 'Notable Gaming Comic'. Ellipsis has also been guest of honor at numerous conventions.
Goblins: Alternate Realities Game Kickstarter launched on June 3rd, 2013. It successfully raised $182,000, but the game was never made. Instead, the owner of Evertide Games disappeared with the money. There is an unfinished digital version that has not been released to the public but has been play tested by fans online.
An Indiegogo campaign for Goblins Animated was launched in December of 2017 and raised $273,642. The goal was to create a 5 minute long animated trailer to hope to launch a Goblin's cartoon. As of February 2021, it is still a work in progress partially slowed by the Covid. Matt King announced in the most recent update that they changed animation studios, are working with a composer for the score, and have gained a showrunner.
Personal Life[]
Ellipsis was named Tarol at birth, and began her career under that name. She is a transgender woman, and in June 2019 she publicly announced she had changed her name to Ellipsis, explaining via Twitter that she had begun transitioning recently. Born on September 29th 1973, they now choose to celebrate their birthday on April 1st. Ellipsis has two children from a previous relationship. She shared custody with her ex: her eldest lived with her from ages 12 to 18, the younger stayed with their mother.
Ellipsis married her wife Danielle August 4th 2012.
In 2014 She had a mental break down and went on hiatus for 6 months. With the support of her wife, Danielle, she eventually made a recovery and returned to updating Goblins.
In December 2017, the artist was hospitalized with a subarachnoid hemorrhage. A potentially fatal dural fistula was discovered during surgery and successfully repaired.

"Thuntonian" is a reference to the artist's previous moniker of "Thunt," itself an abbreviation of her previous name of Tarol Hunt. It has been used descriptively for the world and art style of Goblins. Ellipsis stated she wouldn't change this term at this time, adding that now she wouldn't have to feel awkward for having it named after herself.
